ArtIST Winter School kicked off last month!

Starting from this semester, the students of the “Managing Innovation Lab” of the Master MAIN (an academic project active for several years thanks to the collaboration between Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies and the University of Trento), have the opportunity to attend the “ArtIST Winter School (Art, Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Science)”.

This is an ERASMUS+ project carried out by a team of European universities and companies that aims to design and implement innovative Master-level modules integrating Arts in the education of innovation, entrepreneurship and science. ArtIST contributes to the development and modernization of relevant STE(A)M subjects in multidisciplinary programs. STE(A)M is an emerging educational approach to learning Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics that promotes creative problem solving, flexibility and sharing of innovative experiences.

The “ArtIST Winter School” offers digital frontal lessons in which the basics of open innovation, co-creation and design thinking are taught. A key role, however, is also played by special sessions called “Meet the Artist”, which are lessons open to the public, in which participants have the opportunity to listen to the testimonies of artists, musicians, inventors related to arts, innovation and entrepreneurship.

In these sections we try to understand how individual artists from Europe turn their creativity into something that leaves a trace and an impact. In the first few weeks of the Winter School we had the pleasure to host Alessandro Baticci and Arkadi Jeghiazaryan, presenting their business projects in the field of music and augmented reality.

The next session of “Meet the Artist” will see the participation of Marco Malvaldi, a Pisan writer with a past as a researcher at the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry of the University of Pisa. The event is titled “Selling your soul with a smile: the novelist is a public friend”, and it is launched thanks to the fruitful collaboration between the “MIND Community“, the ArtIST team and Master MAIN.
