Who is Alberto

Alberto Di Minin is Associate Professor of Strategy at the Istituto di Management – Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Research Fellow with the Berkeley Roundtable on the International Economy. Alberto’s research and teaching deals with open innovation, the appropriation of innovation, and science and technology policy.
He also works on technology transfer, intellectual property and R&D management. His latest publications appeared on California Management Review, J. of International Business Studies, R&D Management J., Research Policy.

At Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa, Alberto is teaching in the International Master on Innovation Management (Sant’Anna and Trento University) Master of Innovation Management program, PhD in Management and he is supervising Ph.D. and undergraduate
He is Social Innovation Fellow with the Meridian International Center of Washington, DC.
Alberto is the Co-Director of the Executive Doctorate in Business Administration Program, coordinated by Sant’Anna with Chongqing University and Grenoble School of Management, the Director of the Confucius Institute of Pisa and of the Galilei Institute in Chongqing University.
Alberto is currently the Italian Delegate on the SMEs & Access to Finance Programme Committee, for Horizon 2020, with the European Commission. During 2013, he served as Advisor for Innovation Policy to the Italian Minister of Education, University and Research. He represented the Ministry within program committees focused on innovation policy, adoption of digital technologies, training and access to the job market.
Alberto is collaborating as a freelancer with Nòva, il Sole24Ore, the main financial daily in Italy. He previously collaborated contributed to the Italian daily La Repubblica. He is the co-founder of Lab11 a spin-off company of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna focused on strategic consulting and executive training.
Alberto was born in Udine in 1977. He earned a Ph.D. in City and Regional Planning from the University of California, Berkeley, an M.S. from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta and a B.A. in Economics from the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa.
