New Seasonal School on Biodiversity and Business!

I am thrilled to announce the first edition of the Seasonal School “Biodiversity and Business: from Research to Impact” (BRI), organized by the National Biodiversity Future Center (NBFC) in affiliation with the Scuola Universitaria Superiore Sant’Anna Pisa.

The protection of biodiversity is a global challenge, and the EU aims to take the lead in reversing its loss through the 2030 Biodiversity Strategy. In light of this, businesses play a pivotal role in developing a model that safeguards and regenerates biodiversity and the ecosystem services they provide.

The Seasonal School “Biodiversity and Business: from Research to Impact” aims to address this challenge and promote a regenerative economic development model. The objectives of the Seasonal School are threefold:

  1. Examine and promote a development model capable of protecting and regenerating biodiversity and ecosystem services from a perspective of regenerative economic development.
  2. Provide participants with the tools and stimuli to understand and measure the impact of business on biodiversity, assess risks and opportunities.
  3. Foster technological and organizational innovation, encouraging the development of solutions that promote a regenerative economy protecting natural capital.

The Seasonal School offers an immersive learning experience through a combination of frontal lessons, case studies, in-person and virtual testimonies from industry experts, and company visits to parks and organizations dedicated to biodiversity protection. Group discussions among students from diverse disciplines will also encourage knowledge exchange and collaboration.

Who should attend this Seasonal School? Undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD students from various backgrounds interested in acquiring knowledge, skills, and experiences in the field of biodiversity and business. The Seasonal School is also open to employees from private organizations, public servants, policy-makers, and others looking to explore the intersection of biodiversity and business.
